About the Artist
Toka Assal is a graphic illustrator and visual designer who graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 2018, known for merging classic illustration techniques with modern design to highlight Arab and Egyptian heritage in a contemporary visual language. She creates functional art tailored to each brand’s personality and is the Co-Founder of the Egyptian Type Archive, collaborating with brands such as Puma, Rani, Shahid, El-Daheeh, Al Nahdi, and Wondery. Her work has been showcased in prestigious exhibitions, including 100/100 Hundred Best Arabic Posters (2020, 2022), Qatar Reads – Tales & Fashion Exhibition in Doha (2025), Cairo Prints (2022–2024), and Typeforce 13 in Chicago (2025), and she received the Tasmeem Award at ICD Brookefield in 2024, cementing her reputation as a leading voice in contemporary Arabic graphic illustration.
