About the Artist

Mariam Swilam is an Egyptian visual artist born in 2004 and a graphic design student at Galala University. She is currently in her final year of study. Mariam seeks art in everything around her and has been passionate about it since the age of six, continuously developing her talent until enrolling at university. She expresses her feelings, identity, ideas, and perspective on the world through art, particularly graphic design, often highlighting Egyptian culture in her work.She has participated in the Lamasat Exhibition for two consecutive years with her artworks (Holi Festival Exhibition – 2023 and Beginning – 2024). Mariam also takes part in all her college exhibitions with various projects and is among the top students in her class. She has a strong interest in photography, documenting what may go unnoticed through her lens. Branding Heliopolis is one of her most significant visual projects, shedding light on one of Cairo’s most historic and architecturally important neighborhoods. She is particularly drawn to freehand drawing, pencil and ink work, collage, calligraphy, printing, and any medium that connects her to art.
