About the Artist

Lena Boraei is a student at the American University in Cairo, studying both Graphic Design and History. Born in 2003, she was shortlisted for the Design Belaraby Awards in 2023. She recently concluded her first exhibition with AUC, Mashrou’ 2025, where she showcased her thesis project focused on Arab Americans.Lena is currently a full-time student and also works part-time. She enjoys reading, particularly historical research, and applies it to her graphic design practice to make history more engaging and accessible. Each of her projects often incorporates a historical element that connects with the viewer or provides insight into the richness of the past. Lena aims to challenge the common perception of history as dull or distant, transforming it into something worth exploring further.When she isn’t reading or designing, Lena enjoys exploring the streets of Cairo to find inspiration and learn new things about the city.
