About the Artist
Hussein Khalifa (b. 1989, Baghdad) is an Iraqi calligrapher and visual identity designer. He began practicing Arabic calligraphy in 2004 and transitioned into design in 2016, focusing on developing visual identities and typographic designs that merge Arabic heritage with contemporary design approaches. He has collaborated with international organizations such as the World Health Organization and the United Nations, and has participated in local and international exhibitions, including workshops for youth training on integrating Arabic calligraphy at MAHAREF in Dubai, Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi, as well as exhibitions in Baghdad and London. He founded a series of Arabic calligraphy workshops in design and currently works on developing visual identities, dedicating his efforts to preserving Arabic visual heritage and reinterpreting it in a modern language.
