About the Artist

Heba Barakat is an Egyptian contemporary artist born and raised in Cairo. She has a bachelor’s degree in Architecture Engineering from the American University in Cairo. In her work, she imagines heself as an artist of imaginary spaces, creating a staircase amongst the most abstract of forms or putting a window in the middle of plain emptiness, which is what merging between architecture and art helps her to achieve. She takes people, objects and stories out of their very own designed spaces and sews them into a differently imagined world through digital art, collage work and painting. Barakat is currently pursuing her master’s degree in museum studies.
