About the Artist
Gamal El-Mashtoly is an Egyptian architect, urban designer, and illustrator born in Cairo in 1994 and currently based in Riyadh. He graduated from the School of Architecture, where he discovered his passion for sketching and documenting the architectural stories of cities. Cairo, with its buzzing streets and monuments, shaped his love for heritage and history, where every corner carries a distinct soul.His creative practice spans architecture, interior design, and product design, exploring how cultural heritage can inspire contemporary work. Gamal has exhibited and sold his art in both Egypt and Saudi Arabia, including the series Saudi Postage and the artwork Fortress of Saudi in Riyadh, as well as his illustrated notebook Cairo’s Visual Diary. His work has also been featured at Cairo Prints, celebrating his ongoing engagement with printmaking and illustration.Professionally, he has worked as an Urban Designer at Amanat Mintaqat Al Riyadh, contributing to projects that enhance the city’s urban fabric. He currently works as an Architect and Art Director at ILUBA Studio, where he leads design projects that merge urban identity with cultural products. He also created Soul of Riyadh, an ongoing visual diary that captures the evolving spirit of Saudi’s capital.Through his practice, Gamal continues to celebrate the soul of cities, combining history, architecture, and daily life into lasting artistic narratives.
